The creation of Elizabeth Bennett’s blog : and the Continuation of the Blog.

June 7th, 2008

Hi all.

Now that my English SAC on this is over, I am now able to freely post not in character. I decided to continue on with this blog, now and again, to both finish off the story of Pride & Prejudice in character, and to maybe use as a ‘continuation’ as such of the land AFTER Pride & Prejudice. Maybe one day I’ll even make it into a ‘Pride & Prejudice’ version in Elizabeth’s point of view.

Onto the story of how it all began:

This, as you may or may not know, is/was an English SAC for my Year 11 Unit 1 English. This was originally created as we were reading up on a book called the Baghdad Blog. I personally preferred reading the blog on the site, rather than the book version, but that’s what we had to do [read the book-version], so I did it.

Elizabeth’s ”blog” officially came to life when I started this in April. Before that however, I had to come up with the concept, and the idea of who’s voice I wanted to use in the blog, what book I would pick, and which character.

My teacher said to me [as I was having trouble finding the perfect idea] that ’since I was a book-lover, how about if I wrote my blog based on a character from one of my favourite books. My Year 10 English teacher told me I would enjoy reading Pride & Prejudice the year before, so I knew about the book.

And then… Elizabeth’s blog took hold. I spent a lot of time during the six or so periods we had to complete the blog refining, editing, writing, creating, thinking….. [you get the general idea] and period by period, the blog came to life.

I gathered together pictures, stories, the book and my intelligent, imaginative brain to create what I call ”my little masterpiece”. And a masterpiece it turned out to be. I got one of the highest marks in the year level, an A and boy, was I extatic!!!

^^ I thought to myself after, should I let Elizabeth’s story fade away or should I continue on. And so I decided I shall continue on with this blog.

In Elizabeth’s words [or my own I create for her]

‘Do not pass by, dear reader, for there is more of my story to come. Much more adventures and expeditions my family shall face. Never fear reader, you will not cease to be amused by the uncanny tales of such an unusual English family’

Love,

Elizabeth Bennett and Sarah Walker
